Marine Supplies

Below is a list of the places where I get most of my equipment and supplies.  If you know of other good sources, I'd be happy to hear about them.  But don't bother cluing me in to West Marine.  They're fine, but nothing special.

Aircraft Spruce   This places sells stuff to airplane enthusiasts.  But there's a lot of similarities between things that fly and things that float.

Annapolis Performance Sailing   If you are a serious racing sailor and own at least one boat, you probably already know that this is the first place to look for quality fittings and hardware.

Chesapeake Light Craft   Mostly about kayaks.  But there's a lot of overlap between kayaks and wooden sailing boats.

Dinghy Shop    Small specialty store on Long Island.

Fibre Glast    Excellent collection of composite materials and tools,  Great service.

Fisheries Supply    I don't use them much, but they have a lot of stuff for mariners.

Jamestown Distributors   Top choice for boat building supplies.  Known throughout both the sailing and woodworking communities.  Great service, knowledgible staff.

JCD Custom Race Parts   Specialty racing boat parts made by Gianni Cuccio.

Mauri Pro Sailing   Backup supplier when APS doesn't have something in stock and I need it right away.   Defender is another good backup for both APS and Jamestown and sometimes offers a better price.

MAS Expoxies   Doesn't retail their own stuff, but a good source of information about their epoxies.

Mini-Craft of Florida - Tools & materials for gelcoat repair.  Can match any gelcoat color.

North Wind Iceboats

Sail 22   Located in Culver, Indiana.  If you can't find something, Ed and Becky might be able to find it for you or figure out how to make it.  They offer a lot of custom services and are very nice people.

West Coast Sailing    I have only used this supplier once, but their service was terrific and I plan to buy from them again.

West System    Has done more than any other company to revive wooden boatbuilding in the U.S., based on the insight that epoxy can be used to offset wood's (very few) inherent defects as a boat building material.
